I never thought of Australia in relation to serial killers,but as this book proves they are there..This is a very good read and the 3rd book in the Serial Homicide series.RJ has compiled a list of some of the worst killers in history.Some you may have heard of and others less familiar.It's a definite must read for true crime fanatics.I have recommended it to my family and friends and they've enjoyed reading it as much as I have.

Volume # 3 of serial killers ( Serial Homicide ) is just as interesting as volume 1 & 2. Some of these killers I wasn't familiarized with, stories are very disturbing. Some of these monsters have committed unthinkable acts. A great book for true crime readers.

I found the most interesting part of the book to be the references to other, hopefully more informative books, in the section on the backpack killer. Otherwise this book seemed to be a poor brief synopsis of the crimes covered.

I'm giving this a five star rating, l love true crime and this book shows of the crime in Australia and really interesting. Really worth getting.

Australian Serial Killers are not something you hear about every day and this book was an eye opener for sure. Love RJ as an author and I love the subjects he chooses to write about.

About the Author

William Hustrulid studied Minerals Engineering at the University of Minnesota. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in 1968, his career has included responsible roles in both mining academia and in the mining business itself. He has served as Professor of Mining Engineering at the University of Utah and at the Colorado School of Mines and as a Guest Professor at theTechnical University in Luleå, Sweden. In addition, he has held mining R&D positions for companies in the USA, Sweden, and the former Republic of Zaire. He is a Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and a Foreign Member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). He currently holds the rank of Professor Emeritus at the University of Utah and manages Hustrulid Mining Services in Spokane,Washington.

Mark Kuchta studied Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and received his Ph.D. degree from the Technical University in Luleå, Sweden. He has had a wide-ranging career in the mining business. This has included working as a contract miner in the uranium mines of western Colorado and 10 years of experience in various positions with LKAB in northern Sweden. At present, Mark is an Associate Professor of Mining Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He is actively involved in the education of future mining engineers at both undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts a very active research program. His professional interests include the use of high-pressure waterjets for rock scaling applications in underground mines, strategic mine planning, advanced mine production scheduling and the development of user-friendly mine software.

Randall K. “Randy” Martin studied Metallurgical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and later received a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from Mines. He has over thirty years of experience as a geologic modeler and mine planner, having worked for Amax Mining, Pincock, Allen & Holt, and Tetratech. Currently he serves as President of R.K. Martin and Associates, Inc. His company performs consulting services, and also markets and supports a variety of software packages which are used in the mining industry. And not every pupa developed into a butterfly, which puzzled Merian for a long time. On seeing a collection of butterflies from Dutch Guiana, modern Surinam, she decided to study tropical flora and fauna, to discover whether the moths and butterflies she saw in collections shared the same life cycle as those she had bred: the egg and caterpillar stage. In 1699 she sailed for South America with daughter Dorothea, the first time any woman had ventured on a journey of exploration on this scale. Having evaluated and categorized her specimens, in 1705 she published her major work Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium, in Dutch and Latin. She made 60 copperplate engravings to illustrate the stages of insect development, arranged around the cultivated and wild plants she had encountered on her travels. With its detailed text and imagery, the Metamorphosis is the first work on the natural history of Surinam. For 17th century Europeans it was an insight into an unknown world. TASCHEN s reprint of a hand-colored first edition copy includes the complete plates with a commentary by Katharina Schmidt-Loske. Merian accomplished a pioneering achievement of the modern age. This publication pays homage to her work and offers readers an opportunity to appreciate her sumptuous engravings.

Nouwen's unexpected death in 1996 ended the prolific writing career of the Dutch Catholic priest who bridged denominational chasms between Christians everywhere. Since then, the Henri Nouwen Literary Centre in Canada has seen that two of Nouwen's unfinished books have been published and has continued to plumb his collection of unpublished papers, manuscripts, letters, tapes and videos for other possibilities. This brief collection is part of that effort. It comprises three previously published Nouwen essays, "The Path of Power," "The Path of Peace" and "The Path of Waiting," and adds a fourth, "The Path of Living and Dying." Based on a talk Nouwen gave at the National Catholic HIV/AIDS Conference in Chicago and an interview with Crosspoint magazine, this last essay is of particular interest as it opens a window to Nouwen's own preparation for his passage into the life he believed awaited him after death. Although Sue Mosteller, literary executrix of the Nouwen Literary Centre, molded Nouwen's thoughts into this essay, her choice and arrangement of words are true to the man's spirit in their frankness and ability to distill a subject's essence. Those familiar with Nouwen's writings will doubtless agree that he could easily have written passages like this: "Death in itself is not wonderful. It is terrible. But how we see our death and the death of others we know and love can be transforming. It takes time. But it is possible."

By the time of his death in 1996, Nouwen had garnered a large, faithful audience for his unique mixture of Christian inspiration, contemplative exploration, and theology. The four essays gathered here reflect a man going home. He writes poignantly of the powerlessness inherent to the human condition and the poverty that we all share. He argues that the peace and love gained from acknowledging one's fragility are the keys to the sort of richness that makes life meaningful. "The Path of Peace," in which he introduces Adam, a physically and intellectually disabled man from whom we learn the peace that comes from being rather than doing, makes this case especially powerfully. Three of the essays were previously published as pamphlets; the previously unpublished one, on life and death, proves especially poignant. About the Author
Diane Larsen-Freeman is Professor of Education, Professor of Linguistics, and Director of the English Language Institute at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is also a Distinguished Senior Faculty Fellow at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. Dr. Larsen-Freeman has been a conference speaker in over 50 countries of the world and has published over 100 articles in her areas of interest. Her Thomson/Heinle books include The Grammar Book: An ESL/EFL Teacher¿s Course (1999; co-authored with Marianne Celce-Murcia), From Grammar to Grammaring (2003) and the fourth edition of Grammar Dimensions: Form, Meaning, and Use (forthcoming, Series Director). From 1980-1985, Dr. Larsen-Freeman was Editor of the journal Language Learning. In 1997, Dr. Larsen-Freeman was inducted into the Vermont Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 1999, she was selected by ESL Magazine as one of ¿the ESL pioneers.¿ In 2000, she received the lifetime achievement award from Heinle & Heinle Publishers.
