First, my daughter liked it alright, nothing spectacular and it's not offensive or anything but here are my thoughts... oh my goodness, this book is ridiculous. The entirety of the book is different animals saying how they aren't going to remove the thorn, many times for no good reason (i.e. there is no moral to this story) and then at the last page the mouse says, I'll take it out. The end. No joke. I am a fan of the little golden books but this will not be staying in our collection.
This is not the story we were thinking. We read a lot of Little Golden Books at bedtime. You know what works well? Poky Little Puppy, Little Red Hen, and Scamp. Those are good books. This one... it's really, really bad. Don't buy this book.
This was not the original story that I thought it was. It's repetitive and boring!
